A note from Paula Davis, a Guest Author and my good friend, on her Daniel Boone Fan Fiction Story, Keepin' Christmas.

Like countless hundreds of women, young and old,  the "Daniel Boone" TV series ended for me in 1968 when Mingo left the
series.  I never watched the final two seasons. Never had any opportunity to watch reruns.

When "Daniel Boone" debuted on dvd's, I was totally hooked.  One day, my 14-year-old daughter remarked, "Mom, instead
of watching the same old episodes, why don't you check out fan fic?" Fan fic?  Hmmmm.  She showed me where to find it, and
how to bookmark the site so I could find it again. OK.  I read
EVERYTHING I could find and wished for more.  The writers
just didn't write fast enough for me to keep reading!  Some of the stories I read were excellent, others were underwhelming.  I
had one of those light-bulb moments:  Why don't you write your
OWN?  I had never written ANYTHING, but that didn't stop
me.  I figured mine couldn't be any worse, and might even be better!  I picked Christmas as a theme--  it was November, the
holiday season was coming, and I thought my story would be my own secret Christmas present to myself.

Then I met Susie in an Ed Ames group.  I emailed her a question.  She responded immediately.  We began to email each other
back and forth on a daily basis. Then Susie sent me a box of
TREASURE -- the complete, uncut "My Brother's Keeper", cd's
of Mr. Ames' songs, Susie's own wonderful greeting cards, pictures!!

I HAD to thank her by phone, not by email, so I took courage in both hands and dialed the number on the back of one of her
cards.  We talked for 8 hours the first night, and the rest is history. We instantly became
BFF's! The once-a-week 5 hour calls
became
EVERY DAY calls lasting for hours!  Susie  told me she wrote fan fiction also, and hinted that she'd show me what she
wrote.
I LOVED her first DB fan fic - "Talota's Rock" - so I asked her to take a look at what I'd written of "Keepin'
Christmas".

Susie took me by the hand and showed me the ropes. She loved what I'd written, but knew it could be even better.  And "KC"
turned into the mouse that roared! I had planned on ending it on Christmas Day, after chapter six.  Susie and others wanted to
know
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT and I HAD to keep writing.  Did Mingo recover completely?  Did he and Daniel ever catch
up to Tommy and Billy?
THEN WHAT!?  Read it yourself and see.  Paula Davis, May 2008.

Enjoy "Keepin' Christmas" by Paula Davis

Mingo's decision not to "Keep Christmas" with the Boones proves a costly one. A life-changing
injury leads him to question the quality of his own existence.  And the only clue he can give Daniel
as to his attackers are two voices and a giant pair of feet wearing ornately-beaded moccasins.
